After three excellent and delicate folk albums, Bony King of Nowhere has changed his name. Under the alias of Bony King, Bram Vanparys can be described as a singer songwriter with the voice of an angel and an affinity with Nick Drake. Breaking his habits, the Belgian composer and performer has recorded his latest album “Wild Flowers” in suburban Los Angeles with Ryan Freeland (T-Bone Burnett, Joe Henry, Aimee Mann) and worked with musicians like drummer Jay Bellerose, all selected by listening to the producer’s works for Solomon Burke, Ray LaMontagne and Robert Plant. Wild Flowers is the wide open spaces of the Wild West states. Americana in its most pure and noble form. Somewhere between country and folk. Between his hero Neil Young and Gram Parsons. The ghost of the latter also seems to have escaped the Joshua Tree National Park (where his manager had him cremated after stealing his coffin) to inspire these ten gorgeous wildflower tracks. Bony King has bluffed Devendra Banhart. Inspired a film project by Kieran Hebden (Four Tet). Created music to the roadmovie by the Belgian “Les Géants” director Bouli Lanners. And caught the ear of Jeff Tweedy ... With Wild Flowers, he now puts on his cowboy boots and puts on his Stetson to beat the Americans at their own game.
