St. Beaufort

Konzert / Mi. 04.

Scorpion Jack

Konzert / Fr. 13. Mai 2016 / 20:30 / Eintritt frei - Kollekte

Scorpion Jack are a dynamic acoustic folk rock duo. The melodic percussion and rhythmic guitar build sounds and create themes that mesmerise the audiences. With close to the bone lyrics their appeal spans across generations. Their songs are topical, comical and inspiring telling tales of elated moments, “It was the best night of my life, I wish that I could pause time!” Chalk and cheese from the same factory the amiable pair are either cell mates or soul mates taking audiences to checkmate.

Matt Woosey

Konzert / Mi. 18.

The Diamond Family Archive

Konzert / Fr. 20. Mai 2016 / 20:30 / Eintritt frei - Kollekte

The Diamond Family Archive is the writing and recording project of Laurence Collyer.
Holed up in a converted garden shed in rural Devon finds him and friends creaking and coaxing songs from all manner of old instruments and badly maintained vintage equipment. Personal and pastoral themes are mixed with sleepy-eyed awe to create sparse and fluttering arrangements. The sounds of the rain, the old mill leat outside the door and the ever present ominous rookery in the nearby slate quarry all make it onto the recordings too.
Live, The Diamond Family Archive craft a mesmeric live-show from drums and acoustic guitars, lots of FX pedals, keyboards set to drone, tape delay, loops and bellows, bows, toys and broken cymbals. All coming together to create music which holds echos of post-rock, traditional folk, spiritual soul music, psychedelic rock and lo-fi. The Diamond Family are a unique and roving ensemble who perform either solo, as a duo or as a full band with small choir!
Foot-stomping, finger-picking, hollering, feedback howls vs pin-drop hush - fragile, lazy grace.
The last couple of years have seen 5 albums including 2 on vinyl and 1 on cassette, 30+ EPs, a host of short films, numerous field recordings and several collaborations.
The Diamond Family Archive has been quietly releasing records, tapes and CDs through a handful of labels (Dinosaur Club {USA}, Tired Trails {USA}, Woodland Recordings {UK/GER}, A Beard of Snails {Denmark}, MAP Recordings {UK}, Lynch(ed) {UK} and many others.

Female Trouble Band

Konzert / Mi. 25. Mai 2016 / 20:30 / Eintritt frei - Kollekte

The Females’ trouble is really pushed hard; Divine, in John Waters’ same named movie, does no better. Their remake of the purest 50s rock ‘n’ roll, is simple but full of blues despair. When they start playing, first comes the rocking, sculpted by Elisa’s telecaster, and then it all rolls out with fancy dresses, rockabilly hairstyles and lip-stick, down the roads of Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Nancy Sinatra, Little Walter, Bo Diddley, The Shirelles, Johnny Cash, etc...

Two female voices, first Nancy’s, warm and mellow like a true rocker’s. Then, on the frenetic downhill run Elisa’s energy bursts in, as she takes on her telecaster and fills the simple and constant underground blues tunnel of brillantine.

The guitar and voice duet is kept on tempo by snarist Marta with her what-the-hell-am-i-doing-here-face, suprising everyone and herself with the sound of her brushes and their incessant succession. Finally, in the background, Sarya’s minimal percussion and third voice holds everything together like star dust.

The Great Park

Konzert / Fr. 27. Mai 2016 / 20:30 / Eintritt frei - Kollekte

Stephen Burch is an English songwriter currently based in Germany.
He began making music whilst living on a remote farm in rural Ireland - using acoustic guitars, the family's piano, brooms and chains. His lyrical, narrative songs bear the influence of the fields of County Cork and the old streets of Berlin. Images of persecution abound, songs of urgent travel and a search for home - the unifying theme is that of grave drama within 'The Great Park'.
Stephen has played over 150 concerts each year for the past several years - touring Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark and the UK. He has released over 14 albums on the DIY label Woodland Recordings, a compilation through the German label Timezone, has provided music for several films and his songs have been covered on releases by Liz Green, The Sons of Noel And Adrian, Thirty Pounds of Bone and others.
He likes rooms with echo, train journeys, trams and girls on bicycles.
